the owners of this building have been trying to push its use in our city and the inside is very nice.

another family destroyed by jehovahs happy organization
by Evidently Apostate inas i sit down and type this i have realized that if i could have seen into the future and known that this post would need to be created (for my own peace of mind anyway) i know i would have never given the jws a minute of my time.
a little background: i have been a jw for 20 years and found a wonderful woman in the religion she was a pioneer when i met her, an elders girl but that did not matter to me , it was and always has been her compassion and love for people that endeared me to her and we have been happily married for almost my 20 year tenure as a jw.
we have several children one of them is a teenage boy.

i wanted to post an update to this thread.
my niece( the older one who was living in the motel) attempted to run off to vegas and marry her boyfriend, and did not quite make it there before he ditched her and ran home leaving her without any cash or working vehicle 1500 miles from her home. she was sent a ticket home by her parents and when arriving was told she had to attend all meetings and study for each one in order to remain under thier roof. she lasted a few weeks and after more drama ended up at a homeless shelter. her depression became an issue and the shelter sent her to the hospital and after a few days she was committed to a mental hospital for observation. my wife and i visited regularly and upon her release she has come to stay with us. she is safe at our home and hopefully will start rebuilding her life. i can relate to her situation and told her about the time i was 16 and was told by my mother i could not go out after dark. of course i took off to a party and after a few hours i returned home but could not get in as the door was locked. it was winter and pretty cold out so i looked in the window and saw my mother, brother, and aunt at the dinner table so i knocked on the window. after several minutes of knocking to make sure they heard me(i was told later by my brother they did hear but he was under orders not to look at up at me)i noticed they were studying the WT and were ignoring me. completely pissed off i left and went to crash at a worldly friends home.got to love watchtower discipline. in many ways the conditional love in the org are causing the youth to reject the religion.
i am sure her living with us will cause a lot of friction with my wifes family but i have told them she is with us for as long as she needs and they are to respect my house rules ( be kind or get out).

Hypocrisy of the study article Jan 30 (November 15 2010 edition) and March 1st 2011
by BluesBrother inthe study was based on the man job and his integrity.
there are several obvious flaws in their reasoning, but paragraph 6 struck me in the eyes.
the subheading "never resort to devious methods" then :.

lets see know,
1. using secular research out of context
2. changing doctrine to hide past errors
3. resorting to mind control tactics to retain and recruit membership
4. blaming members for hoping in failed predictions
5. lying i mean using theocratic warfare to obsolve the organization of culpability
6. refusing to adjust old light in order to prevent needless death
quoting out of context seems petty compared to thier more devious sins. nice thread BB

Jan. 15th WT- Go to Meetings to Fight the Blues- Eliminate other Activities
by flipper inour jw contact sent us the " witness only " wt's again and i just had to make a thread on this mind numbing article.
starting on pg.22 in the jan.15th it deals with " coping with discouragement ".
it seems lots of jw's are under intense stress these days ( can you blame them ?

almost every JW i know from 16 to 60 is on some anti-anxiety or depression medicine i would be willing to bet the watchtower has stock in big pharma.

Video and pictures just coming in from the world wide protest!
by koolaid-man init was thrilling to participate in the world wide protest, jan, 21-23 2011 exposing the watchtower organization for their policies on deliberately breaking up up families.
we thank all those involved this past weekend for their passion and commitment to help free those trapped in falsehood.
i am aware that many on this forum do not believe in protesting against the watchtower society, and i respect their position.

i dont see how you can compare the protests in egypt based on 30 years of political oppression, 20% unemployment, and poverty that affects a whole nation to a few ex members of an insignificant fringe fundementalist religion. unless you were infected with the JW doctrine most "wordlies" could give a shit as they are too busy living thier lives. i applaud your energy but find it somewhat misguided in that it just gives any JW the persecution complex zeal to preach even more and possibly infecting additional unsuspecting persons with the doctrine, and why send them to another religious site? it may lead some to think you have another motive besides the main goal to bring awarness to the cult.

"Apostates main topic is always Disfellowshipping! And I agree with the arrangement 100%"
by sabastious inthere are a lot of witnesses that have examined the df'ing arrangement and deem it worthy to be the main force of discipline for god's earthly organization.
the prodfers as i just named them, are advovates of the policy and believe that it churns out, once the offender returns through the system in place, very "spiritual" people.. think about this process and figure out what the desired result the originator of the policy was:.
the subject is acused of a "high end sin" (requires the quantification of sin).if subject has been viewed by two or more witnesses a private hearing is formed with a panel of three elders.the subject is interogated by the panel of elders and information is gathered using policies from a secret elder handbook.

addendum to 5
The disfellowshipping will affect family relations as those related and not living in the same home will avoid all unessasary contact with the offender. Those family members living with the offender will be wary of trusting the disfellowshipped so as not to be involved in spiritual fornication.
nope, doesn't sound like a very christ like attitude here

My Story not for the weak of heart
by TotallyADD ina year after my parents were baptized i was born in 1954. that same year my father was appointed presiding overseer and remained in that position until the early sixties despite the fact he was still smoking.
he gained the position by default because he was the only baptized man who could read.
thus began my life course of abuse, neglect and cult thinking.
-
Evidently Apostate
WOW! i am sorry you were put through that . i have seen the abuse JW children are subject to all for praise to an organization. they are the group that suffers the most and i think as they continue to rebell is larger #'s they will do the most damage to this cult

Trying to Deal with MY Parental Guilt
by Lady Lee inthis is so hard for me.. my daughters don't want to talk about it.
they don't want to hear about the jws from their father.
and they don't want to hear about the jws from me.. they don't want to talk about it period.. they both seem to think i am stuck because i do talk about it.. the problem is partly that i can see just how stuck they are, especially the younger one who continues to fear armageddon is coming and has survival kits ready in her basement for when it comes - she showed me.
-
Evidently Apostate
if the only scarring this religion has left on your children is building a survival shelter in her basement then i think you are fortunate.maybe you can take comfort that you have helped free your children from a life that would have been much worse.
i struggle with my believeing wife over how far i let her ingraine my children in this cult and it is very tiresome.

Does the fear of death prevent a fullfilled life?
by Evidently Apostate inas time continues along with my exit from the religion i think about this question often.
is living a slaves existence in order to hopefully gain an eternal life worth it?
i have begun to wonder what will happen to me when i am dying whether i will see a bright light or not or will i awaken to a heavenly courtroom to be judged for my deeds that will be laid before me.

In memory of Charles Taze Russell who died 92 years ago.
by AndersonsInfo inpastor charles taze russells wife, maria, divorced him in 1906. the writings of maria russell e-document contains an eleven-page enlightening introduction that outlines her fall from her husbands affection because he said she was endeavoring to take over the editorship of his religious journal, zions watch tower.
is that true?
also discussed is the question of mrs. russells acumen as a writer which her husband and followers called into question.

Evidently Apostate
i just stumbled on this, i always thought russell was a sincere albeit misguided person. this is an eyeopener and a must read for new members(like myself). i suppose his chauvanistic views were common for the day . from some of this you can see the org still uses his arrogance regarding their view of women.
